TOWN OF HURON
Local Law No. 3
of the Year 2002
A local law to supersede state law to eliminate the requirement that the court clerk be an elector of the town.
Be it enacted by the Town Board of the Town of Huron as follows:
1. This law is enacted pursuant to the power of supersession granted to the town of Huron by Municipal Home Rule Law '10.
2. This law supersedes New York State Town Law '23(1) and Public Officers Law '3(1), to the extent they require that the town court clerk be a resident and elector of the Town of Huron.
3. The town court clerk need not be a resident or elector of the Town of Huron, provided that she or he was a resident and elector at the time of initial appointment, and he or she resides in Wayne County or an adjoining county in the State of New York.
4. This local law shall take effect upon filing with the Secretary of State.
