Overview:

 

TOWN OF HURON

Local Law No. 2

of the Year 1999

 

                                               A local law to change the term of the Town Clerk from two (2) years to four (4) years.

 

           Be it enacted by the Town Board of the Town of Huron as follows:

 

1.         Change in Term of Office.  The term of office of the Town Clerk of the Town of Huron shall be changed to a four (4) year term commencing with the term of the Town Clerk elected at the next biennial Town election held after the effective date of this local law.

 

2.         Supersession of Town Law.  This local law supercedes Section 24 of the Town Law, to the extent that statute provides that the term of the Town Clerk shall be two (2) years.

 

3.         Effective Date.  This local law shall be subject to a mandatory referendum pursuant to Section 23 of the Municipal Home Rule Law, and shall take effect upon approval by the electors of the Town of Huron at a special election to be held on November 2, 1999, and upon filing with the Secretary of State.
